Superdrug launches home test kit for UTIs
Superdrug Online Doctor has launched a test and treat service for urinary tract infections in partnership with medtech company TestCard.
The urine testing kit is priced at £9.99 and includes two testing strips and a free-to-download mobile app. It is available from the Superdrug website and in 200 of the multiple’s stores.
The TestCard technology uses a smartphone camera to scan the testing strips, with test results shown in the app. If the results suggest the patient may have a UTI, they are given the option to share their results with a GP, the Superdrug Online Doctor service or another healthcare professional.
Superdrug healthcare director Michael Henry said: “When the NHS is as stretched as it is, we’re delighted to be able to support our customers and offer this new at-home UTI test and treat service which is easy, accessible and convenient and will also help to reduce the pressure on GP services.”
