The main competition for pharmacy services is from other pharmacies. You should also be aware of competition from other contractors such as GP surgeries. Remember that the broad scope of a PNA is pharmaceutical services and these may not be provided exclusively through pharmacies.

In terms of your retail business, competition will not just be other local retailers. Many pharmacies cannot compete with supermarkets and discount stores for the everyday shopping needs of their customers. But do your customers want you to maintain a much stronger range of niche products (such as healthy living aids, high quality beauty and skincare products or photography and digital processing services) alongside retail healthcare offers and distress purchases (such as small packs of nappies, a limited range of baby food or a limited range of hosiery)? Of course, the best way to find this out is to ask them.
