MHRA recalls five batches of bimatoprost eye drops
The MHRA has recalled five batches of Bimatoprost Aspire eye drops, with pharmacies required to stop dispensing affected supplies.
The watchdog issued a class 3 medicines recall for five batches of Bimatoprost Aspire 0.3mg/ml eye drops, solution in single dose container 0.4ml x 30 earlier today. This precautionary measure is being taken “due to the identification of some variability in the thickness of plastic of the single dose containers,” which has made it difficult for some patients to squeeze the solution from the container.
Healthcare professionals are advised to stop supplying the affected batches immediately and to quarantine all remaining stock before returning it to their supplier.
