Locate a Locum has said it has removed all shifts posted on its website by Allcures while it looks into allegations the pharmacy chain is failing to pay pharmacists for shifts on time.
Locum pharmacists told Independent Community Pharmacist they are still waiting to be paid weeks after their shifts and a couple of locums said they are considering legal action.
ICP understands the Pharmacists’ Defence Association is handling several cases on behalf of locums. Allcures director Kirandeep Cheema said he was “urgently” looking into the allegations and urged locums to get in touch with him so he can “look into the matter personally and get to the bottom of it as soon as possible”.
Locate a Locum said Allcures, which has over 40 branches across England, has assured it that any outstanding payments will be made today.
A spokesperson for Locate a Locum said: “As soon as we were alerted that Allcures had not been processing payments in a timely manner, we immediately initiated our own internal review.
“Based on the findings, we made the decision to remove all Allcures shifts from the Locate a Locum platform as a temporary measure, and we are currently liaising directly with Allcures to help remedy this unfortunate situation.
“Our aim is to offer a solution, specifically our payments module, which is designed to facilitate faster and more transparent payments to locums moving forward.”
Cheema said: “We are a family business and we engage a large number of locums. I greatly value our locum community. They are a big part of our community of pharmacies and we do our best to ensure all payments go through without a hitch.”
