Turn it Purple Awards 2019
Abbotswood Pharmacy in Yate, Bristol, has won Pancreatic Cancer Action’s 2019 Turn it Purple Pharmacy of the Year Award. During campaign week (25-30 November), Abbotswood used PCA’s TIP pack and purple items of its own to make the pharmacy stand out. Walls were covered in banners, posters and bunting, and the staff wore purple clothing, props and even purple hair.
The team also held a bake sale and hosted an awareness stand at the local St. Nicholas Family Centre’s Christmas fair, where the opportunity presented itself to discuss the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer.
The Abbotswood team said: “We are delighted we stimulated a lot of conversation about pancreatic cancer. It goes to show the important role community pharmacy can play in creating awareness and health promotion. This award is also for the whole Yate community, who were actively involved, either through our purple flash photography sessions or participating in the bake sale.”
