GSK restructures support for community pharmacy

Pharmacy should expect more face-to-face visits from GSK, with category advice to help them to grow OTC sales, the company has said.

Several teams will now support pharmacies. The ‘Retail Execution team’, replaces the field sales team, and will increase coverage to 2,000 pharmacies. Telesales coverage will increase from servicing 950 pharmacies, to 3,000.

GSK: Support for OTC growth

A new ‘Expert Marketing team’ will ensure that specialist information is available for pharmacists to access when they have time, such as online, rather than trying to have these conversations in busy pharmacy environments.

There is often not always time to talk about the science behind products during the pharmacy day, says the company. The new approach forms part of “increased investment from GSK to deliver more face to face visits to support pharmacy teams, and more category advice to help grow OTC sales.”

“Pharmacy is crucial to our business and we are dedicated to helping pharmacists evolve to meet the needs of the future. We continue to grow and invest in important brands in pharmacy like Voltarol and Nurses and the Retail Execution team means we can support more pharmacists than ever before with category advice that will really make a difference to their OTC sales,” said Andy Gill, GSK pharmacy sales director GB.

Support is being offered for pharmacies “to make sure that their product offering is executed in the right way,” and “helping to ensure pharmacists maximise their OTC potential and growth,” said Mr Gill.
