Even a non-businessperson can benefit from an MBA. Stephen Covey was one of the greatest personal development gurus and had a phenomenal following. He is best known for his book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
These habits are:
- Be proactive
- Begin with the end in mind
- Put first things first
- Think win-win
- First understand, and then be understood
- Synergise
- Sharpen the saw. An MBA course will teach you how to improve on those seven habits.
Habit 1 - be proactive
This is the ability to control one's environment, rather than have it control you, as is so often the case. Choose self-determination, choice and the power to decide your response to stimulus, condition and circumstance.
Habit 2 - begin with the end in mind
Mr Convey called this the habit of personal leadership €“ leading oneself, that is, towards what you consider your aims. By developing the habit of concentrating on relevant activities you will build a platform to avoid distractions and become more productive and successful.
Habit 3 - put first things first
This is the habit of personal management. This is about organising and implementing activities in line with your aims and objectives and help with your time management €“ a positive route to take.
