A third of sufferers put up with pain

Research by Solpadeine into the impact of pain and how people discuss it found that 37 per cent of people do nothing if mild analgesics don’t relieve their pain, while 30 per cent visit their doctor.

Some 62 per cent would be encouraged to use stronger pain relief if they knew it would be effective, but 27 per cent said they find it hard to describe their pain in words.

To make it easier to discuss pain, Solpadeine have created new training materials for pharmacy staff. This includes a visual pain scale rating resource to help them recommend suitable pain relief, entitled ‘Are you getting the right level of pain relief’.
