How do emollients help?

Emollients help to re-balance the skin's microbiome and stimulate its natural defences4. They do this by helping to reinforce the skin's natural barrier and reducing water loss. The skin can then rehydrate at the same time as being better protected from the external environment.

CUSTOMER CARE: EMOLLIENTS VS. TOPICAL STEROIDS

Emollients: Should be used all the time for dry skin as a continual baseline therapy. NICE recommends 250-500g per week of emollients for children and 500g plus for adults.5

Topical Corticosteroids: Should be used during flare-ups to reduce swelling and redness.
