Peter Surgenor is to retire at the end of July as managing director of Belfast-based distributor Sangers AAH, Celesio UK has announced.

Mr Surgenor spent 33 years at Sangers before the acquisition of United Drug Sangers by Celesio in 2016. He has since managed the Sangers and AAH Belfast business units.

Catherine McDermott, operations director at Celesio UK, said: “Peter has played a key role in managing the transition to Sangers AAH and I want to thank him for the commitment he has shown during his time. Peter has been integral to the pharmacy industry for so many years.

“He has numerous relationships across the sector, in Northern Ireland and beyond, as well as many friendships with customers, suppliers and colleagues. I know they will join with me in wishing him a very happy retirement.”

Celesio commented that it had begun searching for Mr Surgenor’s replacement and would make announcement once the appointment was made.
