The late Kirit Patel honoured at Day Lewis event

Kirit Patel, the late founder of Day Lewis Pharmacy, was honoured at the company’s 21st Annual Conference in London on 19 November. ‘Compassionate Leadership’ was the theme for this year’s conference, which included an exhibition for manufacturers and multiple training sessions.

Co-founder JC Patel opened the evening by paying tribute to Kirit with a toast in his honour saying that his “dreams were as big as his personality and presence. His wish was for 400 pharmacies. We will fulfil this wish and we will stay strong as we move forward to take the next step of the Day Lewis journey.”

Jay Patel, who is also a PSNC committee member, outlined his vision for community pharmacy and Day Lewis: “Today, we stand here to mark the start of our own journey as we lead you compassionately into the future. I have a clear picture of the future of community pharmacy.

“We will be treated as medicines experts. We will be integrated into the care model. We will be prescribing. We will be managing long-term conditions and, with the aid of technology, we will be delivering care that is not limited by physical boundaries.”

The achievements of the company's employees were marked in a range of awards. Day Lewis Pharmacist of the Year was Nemesh Patel of Day Lewis Chelmsford and Day Lewis Pharmacy Team of the Year was Shelley Manor Medical Centre in Bournemouth.
