Companies link for better control of diabetes
People living with diabetes who use Abbott’s FreeStyle LibreLink app and glucose sensing technology can now connect it to Novo Nordisk’s NovoPen 6 or NovoPen Echo Plus smart pens. Tapping the pen against a smart phone will automatically upload data, allowing people with diabetes to see how different factors like dose timing and the amount of insulin taken impact their glucose patterns. “Linked together, these two technologies can provide an additional insight into the impact of both dosing and timing of injection on glucose levels and we see more of the overall picture on which to base management decisions,” says Su Down, nurse consultant in diabetes at Somerset Foundation Trust.
Sheffield residents are the hardiest
Residents of Sheffield are the UK’s hardiest when dealing with a cold. The Olbas Cold Culture report reveals residents of Liverpool, Glasgow and Oxford are close behind, while Londoners are catching the most colds, averaging five a year compared with just two in Sheffield.
Lanes Health says that post-pandemic, 68 per cent of people take more measures to avoid a cold, with 30 per cent saying they would work from home rather than struggle into work. And 63 per cent say symptoms can make them feel embarrassed in public, with coughing the most likely to make them feel uneasy.
