RPS opens applications for chief executive post

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has opened up application for the post of chief executive of the professional membership body for pharmacists and pharmacy in Great Britain.

The vacancy, which comes with a six-figure salary, is created by the departure of Helen Gordon, who leaves at the end of February to become chief executive of the Royal Society of Medicine.

“Great job, great people, great time to make a difference…” tweeted Ms Gordon. The RPS has over 200 employees.

Knowledge of the health systems, a successful track record in general management at a senior executive level, a clear and engaging leadership style and excellent communication, negotiation, political acumen and advocacy skills, are amongst the attributes and experience required – with membership and revenue targets as key success measures.

“This is a pivotal time for pharmacy and now, more than ever, pharmacy is looking to the RPS for leadership and guidance. We will need strong direction to drive the organisation towards our strategic goals to deliver products, services and support for our members which improve the health and wellbeing of the public,” says the application details.

Application for the post closes on 24 January.
