Independent pharmacy chain Numark has been contracted by North Yorkshire and the Humber Local Pharmaceutical Committees (LPCs) to provide Healthy Living Pharmacy Level 1 training to contractors in the region. 

Numark’s ‘HLP in a box’ training includes leadership and Health Champion training, meeting the requirements of Public Health England’s HLP quality criteria. The training has so far been rolled out to 198 pharmacy staff, says Numark, of which 115 have become Healthy Living Champions and 83 leaders. 

The initiative’s popularity has led to wider uptake in the north of England, with Humberside LPC commissioning Numark to train up 37 Health Champions to date.

In addition, Numark is supporting North Yorkshire LPC by providing networking and support sessions for Health Champions. These free-to-attend sessions will run throughout September, focusing on topics such as how to run a successful Stoptober campaign and advice for running health promotions.
