An urgent review of the inspections ratings model is planned by GPhC. 'We accept that our current ratings model needs to change and that, as a minimum, we need to find an alternative to the 'satisfactory' rating,' said chief executive Duncan Rudkin.
Inspections will be made public in the future, most likely from 2016, subject to legislation being passed. A consultation on any changes to inspection could be possible in late 2015 and a new approach for inspectors around pharmacy services and the way in which they are delivered is also expected.
'Openness' in publication of pharmacy ratings will also encourage the sharing of good practice, says GPhC.
