Call for pharmacy technicians to share Covid experiences
Community pharmacy technicians and pharmacists are being asked to share their experiences of how they adapted practices to ensure patient safety throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. The study is being led by researchers from the Universities of Bradford and Leeds as part of the National Institute for Health Research Yorkshire and Humber Patient Safety Translational Research Centre.
The research team hopes that community pharmacies’ participation will help inform the development of resilient practice and improve preparations for future crises and any further outbreaks of Covid-19. This will be achieved by learning how patient safety was maintained during pre-lockdown, lockdown and the period of relaxing lockdown, and how community pharmacy was and could be further supported.
Having already contacted community pharmacists, the researchers have decided to extend the study to also include pharmacy technicians. Commenting on the study, Janice Olaniyan, research fellow at the University of Bradford, said: “Pharmacy technicians would contribute to our study by sharing their frontline experiences with our research team. We look forward to hearing from interested participants.”
