Police in Scotland have appealed for evidence after a “large quantity” of Mounjaro injections was stolen from an Edinburgh pharmacy late on Saturday night.
Thieves broke into East Craigs Pharmacy just after midnight on Saturday October 4, targeting the pharmacy’s supplies of Mounjaro – a drug that is in increasingly high demand, particularly since manufacturer Eli Lilly hiked the price significantly for non-NHS patients.
The pharmacy said: "We are working closely with Police Scotland and would like to offer a reward for any information that leads to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the person responsible.
"If you saw anything suspicious or have any information, please contact Police Scotland on 101 - quoting incident number 1479, 5th October 2025.
"If you happen to be offered this medication, please do not purchase it or attempt to use it — it is prescription-only and potentially dangerous if used improperly. Please note, this particular medication must be stored at a certain temperature, therefore I have to emphasise the dangers of purchasing it and using it illicitly.
"We believe that CCTV and eyewitness accounts may assist the police in their investigation. If you have any dashcam or doorbell footage from last night, around 23:30-00:30, please get in touch.
"We apologise for any alarm this may cause. Our team is cooperating fully with the police. Thank you in advance for looking out for our community. Please share this notice with neighbours and other local community groups."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12:40pm on Sunday, 5 October, we received a report of a break-in to and theft from a premises on Bughtlin Market, Edinburgh.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
