The Day Lewis Group’s latest acquisition has taken the group past owning and managing 250 pharmacies, with the aim of owning 400 by 2020 according to CEO, Kirit Patel.

The acquisition of the Newlands Pharmacy’s chain of six pharmacies in Essex, pushed the group over the 250 mark, just a month before the company is due to celebrate its 40th anniversary .

“It’s fitting that the acquisition of Newlands Pharmacy, an independently owned pharmacy chain, has taken Day Lewis past a significant milestone, said Mr Patel. “To do so before our 40th Anniversary makes me very proud. On behalf of my family, we would like to thank our customers, colleagues and industry partners."

Founded by Kirit Patel MBE and his brother J.C. Patel in 1975, Day Lewis Pharmacy has grown from one pharmacy in Southborough to 254 pharmacies across the UK.

Day Lewis was named runner-up for the Best OTC Multiple Retailer of the Year Award at the OTC Marketing Awards, coming second to Boots.
