LloydsPharmacy tackles bike challenge for charity

On 9 September a team of eight from LloydsPharmacy will take on the challenge of the London to Paris Bike Ride to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Starting from Crystal Palace in London, the team will cycle approximately 300 miles, reaching the finish line at the Eiffel Tower in Paris four days later.

LloydsPharmacy is committed to helping people living with dementia and earlier this year announced a new national charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland, alongside its existing and ongoing commitment to the Dementia Friends initiative.

Rupert Newman, retail operations director at LloydsPharmacy, who is leading the team on this challenge explained: “At LloydsPharmacy we are truly dedicated to doing everything we can to support Alzheimer’s Society and this resonates with all colleagues across the business. As a partner of the charity we have learnt so much about the work they are doing, and how as a business by increasing our own knowledge of dementia we can help patients and customers every day.

“When we read about the London to Paris bike ride the Retail Operations team at Celesio UK jumped at the chance to do it to raise funds for the charity. We’ve been training hard and though we won’t be winning any Olympic medals, we are excited to be taking part in the challenge, raising money and awareness of the charity.”
