Health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, wants 15 per cent of NHS patients to be checking their online medical records through smart phone apps within the next 12 months. By 2016, all patients should be able to access their blood test results, appointment records and medical history, and later, all health and care interactions.

A study of over 2,000 women in the UK found that more than one in five are suffering from hair loss or hair thinning. Including the number of women who have suffered from this in the past, this figure rises to almost 30 per cent. An estimated eight million women in the UK have hair loss, with many suffering in silence.

Over half a million people aged 90 and over were living in the UK in 2014. For every 100 men aged 90 and over in 2014 there were 249 women. The number of people aged 100 and over living in the UK has risen by 72% over the last decade to 14,450 in 2014, with 780 aged 105 or more, double the number in 2004.

In a survey, 11 per cent of pre-registration trainees rated their training as poor or very poor, while only one per cent of pre-reg tutors expected their trainees to grade them this way, according to the GPhC. Some 78% of preregistration trainees rated their training as good or very good.
