LloydsPharmacy challenges negative attitudes to dementia

Employees from LloydsPharmacy across England and Wales used Dementia Awareness Week last month to speak to customers about dementia and challenge negative beliefs about the condition.

“Dementia is a condition that still has some stigma attached to it. Often people are embarrassed or ashamed to admit they’re affected by it and it’s these attitudes that we want to help change,” said Sai Jammigumpula, pharmacist manager from LloydsPharmacy in Swindon.

The team (pictured) held a week-long event to raise money and understanding within the local community during Dementia Awareness Week in May, including free health checks.

Celesio UK has been working in partnership with Alzheimer’s Society since 2015 and all LloydsPharmacy employees are now Dementia Friends.
