GSK UK Pharmaceuticals has said that from 1 November 2018 it will change its direct-to-pharmacy distribution model to a reduced wholesaler model.

This will see pharmacy wholesalers Phoenix, AAH and Alliance Healthcare able to distribute GSK prescription medicines for the first time.

Numark managing director Jeremy Meader said; “This is an historic move by GSK that will ultimately be incredibly positive for community pharmacy. Times are tough and recognition of the challenges faced by pharmacy by increasing access to a wider range of prescription medicines through PHOENIX will help deliver consistency in service and increase patient loyalty whilst helping them to more effectively and efficiently fulfil their role on the front line of healthcare.”
