Success at the OTC Marketing Awards 2017

Boots UK and Nutricia Early Life Nutrition both had success at the OTC Marketing Awards 2017 this month, gaining recognition for their high-quality training materials created in association with CIG Healthcare Partnership.

Boots UK and P3 colleagues CIG Healthcare Partnership won the award for Best OTC Pharmacy Training for 'The Boots Healthcare Way', with an outstanding score of 46/60 from the expert judging panel.

The training focuses on Boots UK's new approach to OTC conversations that ensures each customer receives safe, effective advice every time they visit the pharmacy, regardless of whether they have a product-led or symptom-led query.

The package included a host of practical training aids including a Quick Guide, Till Prompt, Pocket Guide, Scenario Cards, Store Support Guide and a Conversation Wheel.

Each element of the training was designed to help Boots UK pharmacy teams successfully train on and implement The Boots Healthcare Way.

CIG has also collaborated with Nutricia Early Life Nutrition to create 'Managing FGIDs – The Nutritional Approach', a CPD update for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians on the management of functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs). The booklet builds on an extensive portfolio of materials produced to educate the pharmacy team on infant nutrition, to create a holistic package of training materials.

Accredited by the NPA and RPS as high quality, evidence-based training, the booklet presents an easy-to-understand summary of the evidence for using specialist infant formula milks to manage FGIDs, and includes a useful fold-out summary flap of the key features of the different specialist formula milks on the market to aid recommendations.

'Managing FGIDs – The Nutritional Approach' was awarded an impressive 37/60 score by the judges and was highly commended in the Best OTC Pharmacy Training category.

Special projects director at CIG Healthcare Partnership, Frances Shortland, commented: "We are thrilled that our work continues to be recognised in these prestigious awards and wish to extend our congratulations to all the other shortlisted entries".
