400,000 

The number of people doing a sporting activity at least once a week has dropped by 400,000 since the 2012 Olympics. In 2011-12, 15,890,400 people were taking part in a weekly sport. The number has since dropped to 15,491,200, equivalent to the population of Bristol.

People were detained under the Mental Health Act a total of 58,399 times, an increase of 9.8% on 2013/14. The charity Mind said this suggests “people are not getting help for their mental health problems early enough, meaning they become more unwell and more likely to reach crisis point”.

In a recent survey, 2,949 of the 4,129 junior doctors polled said they would move abroad, locum or give up medicine if the contract is forced on them next year as part of the government’s move to a sevenday NHS. Fewer than one in three said they would stay in the NHS.

£130k

 

Pharmacy2U has been fined £130,000 for selling patients’ details without their consent. Details of more than 100,000 customers were put up for sale through an online marketing website, advertised as including people suffering from asthma, Parkinson’s disease and erectile dysfunction.
