New silver lining for stressed pharmacists

Stressed pharmacists and pharmacy students have access to new cloud based e-therapy service, SilverCloud, to help deal with stress, anxiety, depression and body image.

Endorsed by NICE, the package of programmes, developed using 10 years of clinical research, provides users with cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based tools to help them understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

‘The stress programme in particular follows similar topics, but in greater depth, to our wellbeing workshops that look at assertiveness, time management, relationships and self-esteem,’ said chief executive, Diane Leicester-Hallam.

‘As an online resource, however, these programmes are obviously accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from a smart phone, tablet or computer, putting the individual in control of when and where they access it.’

Using an exclusive, personal online account, users are able to explore a range of exercises, as well as interactive activities and quizzes.

Each programme is available to use for up to a year and users can register for one or all of the therapies.

The four SilverCloud e-therapy programmes can be accessed via the Pharmacist Support website at www.pharmacistsupport.org/how-we-can-help/wellbeing/.
