According to the ‘Raising the game’ report from the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry’s Rheumatology Initiative, 40 per cent of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers lose their jobs within five years due to their condition. The report also found that the cost to the UK economy of the condition is up to £4.75 billion.

Women should begin trying for children by the age of 30, advised Professor Geeta Nargund, consultant gynaecologist. In a letter, seen by the Mail on Sunday, to education secretary Nicky Morgan, she warned that women should consider having children early as fertility declines sharply as a woman ages.

Health organisation NIC E believes 5,000 lives could be saved each year in England if G Ps follow new guidelines on cancer diagnosis. The guidelines suggest all GPs order certain tests directly to speed up access to treatment. Thousands of lives are lost each year because tumours are diagnosed too late.
