BPSA and RPS launch “Pre-Foundation Programme” for pharmacy students

A Pre-Foundation Programme, developed by the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (BPSA) and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, will help pharmacy students and pre-registration trainees get a head start on their pre-reg training year.

The Pre-Foundation Programme will offer access to guidance and tools to support students from starting their MPharm degree through to making the transition into pre-registration training.

The programme will give RPS members the chance to “market themselves to future employers as unique individuals who are committed to their professional and personal development”. This is something that is becoming increasingly important as competition for jobs and training places intensifies, says the RPS.

BPSA president, Lottie Bain, welcomed the initiative. “The BPSA Executive are really excited to further develop this joint venture with the RPS. Building a sustainable reflective resource optimised for our members will undoubtedly accelerate the professional development of tomorrow's pharmacists,” she said.

The project will get underway later this year, with the BPSA and RPS looking for input from students and key pharmacy stakeholders to help ensure the programme achieves their aim of it being the “gold standard development programme” for students and pre-registration trainees.
